Project “Pekikingsangbet” Compassion
June 10 – June 24, 2024
Please join us in our mission to reduce malnutrition, morbidity, and mortality among the poorest indigenous people of Palawan, located in the remote southwestern islands of the Philippines. With your generosity in completing the projects listed below and by the grace of God, we can provide aid, relief, hope, improved quality of life and a brighter tomorrow.
Project #1: Housing – To provide resources to renovate existing homes or build new ones to protect the inhabitants from the elements. Decent housing is one of their most felt needs.
Project #2: Water Pumps, Sanitation and Health – To address the problems of hygiene, dental care, proper use of water, hand washing, toilets, and sanitation – the primary causes of illnesses and diseases by:
- Assisting the community in installing water pumps in the villages as a source of clean drinking water.
- Sponsoring seminars and training programs to educate the community on proper healthy hygiene practices.
Project #3: Medical Mission – To improve access to basic health services by improving health awareness and financial resources.
- Improve health awareness by educating communities on healthy practices, such as nutrition, healthy cooking, and basic disease prevention/treatment.
- Improve financial resources by sponsoring potential individuals for Community Healthcare Workers’ training and create funding for medications and hospitalization of serious cases.
Project #4: Livelihood – To improve financial resources that will improve the low quality of life by:
- Establishing funds that can assist them to own a piece of land they can cultivate, reducing the need to be nomads in search of new land on which to plant.
- Coordinating the services of government agriculture specialists to introduce ideas on gardening, planting vegetables, and other produce that are marketable to generate a source of income.
Project #5: Education – To increase access to education for parents and children to improve their way of life by:
- Teaching parents that the advantages of education and literacy enable them to understand basic information, their rights, and available assistance; and in turn, they can motivate their children to attend school.
- Initiating literacy and numeracy programs to help parents and children with basic skills.
- Providing bicycles to students who live far from the school for school transportation.
Project #6: Spiritual Enrichment – To reduce or break the cycle of negative traditional beliefs that hinder indigenous communities from experiencing progress in their overall life by sending missionaries to introduce spirituality as a relationship with God (not a religion of dole-outs), that improves the quality of present life and the anticipation of the hereafter.
